Gypsy Rose Blanchard's partner Ken Urker has died. He was 34.

According to international media outlets, Ken was found unresponsive at his home in Raceland, Louisiana, on October 1, which was also his birthday.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE that officers responded to a residence in Raceland at around 6:15 p.m., where Ken was found “dead upon arrival.”

Currently, the office said the investigation into Ken’s death remains ongoing.

For her part, Gypsy told PEOPLE that Ken died of an overdose, although she said she does not know whether it was intentional.

“I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” Gypsy said. “He was not in a good state of mind lately.”

The personality said she is struggling to process the loss and described the overwhelming grief she has experienced since Ken’s death.

“I’m in disbelief. I can’t think,” she said. “I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”

Gypsy also spoke about the intense public attention Ken faced throughout their relationship, particularly the harassment he received online.

“Ken endured an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit. The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure."

She continued: “I believe the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment.”

In her statement, Gypsy remembered Ken as a devoted father to their daughter, Aurora, and that she considered him the love of her life.

“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase,” she continued.

“Above all, Ken loved our daughter, Aurora. She is a beautiful reflection of his enduring spirit, and through her, a part of him will always remain with us,” she said.

“I will make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her and who he was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him," Gypsy maintained.

Following Ken's death, Gypsy is asking for privacy as they mourn his death as well as the compassion for their daughter.

Gypsy first gained international attention after pleading guilty to second-degree murder for her role in the killing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, in 2015.

She first met Ken while she was serving her prison sentence, before eventually becoming romantically involved. Ken proposed to Gypsy in October 2018.

Although they later called off their engagement, the couple reunited in August 2019. Gypsy was released from prison in 2023,

The pair once again went their separate ways before reconciling in April 2024.

Eight months after their reconciliation, Gypsy and Ken welcomed their daughter, Aurora Raina Urker.
