MANILA — Veteran actor Ronnie Lazaro received the Galardón de Honor during the opening of the 25th edition of PELÍCULA>PELIKULA, the Manila Spanish Film Festival, in Makati City on Friday.
The award recognizes film professionals whose work has helped strengthen ties between the Philippines and Spanish-speaking communities.
"It is a privilege to be an artist, an actor who is somehow a vessel bridging the gap between Spanish and Filipino culture. It is a testament to the power of cinema as a universal language," he said during his speech.
The festival will feature 23 films from Spain, Latin America, and the Philippines, with free screenings from October 4 to 11.
