Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa is now officially engaged to entrepreneur Emil Eriksen.
The beauty queen-actress shared the milestone in an exclusive interview with L’Officiel Philippines and Tiffany & Co. According to Kylie, the proposal happened during a hike in Côte d'Azur, France — far from crowds and cameras.
Emil popped the question at the end of the trail, making the moment all the more meaningful.
“Of course, I said yes,” Kylie said. “It was an easy yes!”
Looking back, she laughed as she described it as the “best hike of her life,” recalling how her breath was taken away not just by the climb, but by the ring as well.
Following the announcement, L’Officiel Philippines also shared a reel of the couple on Instagram, showing Kylie embracing Emil while proudly showing off her engagement ring. In the same reel, Kylie spoke candidly about what love means to her.
“Things I love about love...I love the way you drag me out of bed early in the morning. I love the way you make me laugh. I love the way you make me grow. You make me see a future. I’m having a bad day, you make me calm. You make me want to dream. You tell me that the world is ours to take. With you, everything is possible,” she said.
While Kylie has not revealed the exact date of her engagement, she shared on her Instagram Stories on February 6 that she had been keeping the news private for months.
“I’ve been keeping this for six months now,” she wrote as she reposted L’Officiel Philippines’ post.
In another story, Kylie shared a photo during their hike and showed off her engagement ring while Emil was kissing her cheek as he hugged her.
“It was the best hike ever!!” Kylie wrote.
Kylie’s engagement comes after years of keeping her relationship largely away from the public eye. In 2024, she shared that she had yet to officially “hard launch” her now-fiancé on social media, explaining that privacy played a big role in their happiness. At the time, she confirmed that they had been dating for almost two years and chose to keep their relationship low-key.
“He is a very private person. We both decided to keep it like this. Honestly, it is so much better and so much peaceful. Walang pressure. I don't feel the need for the public to see the relationship. Mas na-appreciate ko ganito lagay,” she told ABS-CBN News.
Though details about Emil were limited then, Kylie shared that he works in the tech industry and described him as a “super green flag.”
“He has been so supportive of everything I do. Since Sola (her shapewear brand) is an e-commerce business, he has been helping. I am so happy.”
“I am growing as a person. I am learning so much from him. I am really happy,” she said at that time.
Fast forward to August 2025, Kylie sparked buzz online after posting a TikTok video where she lip-synced to Taylor Swift’s “Ready For It” alongside Emil. Eagle-eyed netizens noticed a diamond ring on her finger, prompting engagement speculations — though Kylie did not confirm the rumors at the time.
Since confirming that she was in a relationship, Kylie has consistently chosen to keep Emil’s identity low key, often sharing moments together without showing his face.
