Queen of All Media Kris Aquino was a proud mom as her son, Bimby Aquino Yap, took on his first ambassadorship for a healthcare plan brand.
In a video shared by iCare, Bimby was introduced as the brand’s newest ambassador, where he highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare and opened up about his family’s own experience with health concerns
“My mom’s health has been the topic of public conversation for the past few years. She has several autoimmune diseases that are life-threatening. But we are lucky that we can afford the healthcare that kept her alive and helping her improve to the point that she’s on her way back to being the bubbly and energetic Kris Aquino that we all missed,” Bimby said.
“But health should not be a privilege, nor should it be a struggle. It should be a given,” he added. “Every family deserves a care we fought so hard for.”
His decision to make healthcare the focus of his first endorsement also made Kris proud, with the actress-host sharing her thoughts in the comments section of the post.
“Bimb, I purposely waited for the video to be posted, before watching and i am a very proud mama. You spoke from the heart. The 2 of us have often discussed that healthcare should be the government’s responsibility for all tax paying citizens,” Kris said.
She also shared some of the conversations she and Bimby have had about healthcare and public service, revealing that her son had previously told her about his interest in it.
“When you told me that you wanted to go into public service i already started to nag you that healthy citizens will be hardworking tax paying citizens.”
Kris recalled how she encouraged Bimby to think about the connection between healthcare, and the country’s workforce and her hopes for improving education.
“And children learn so much from K to grade 6. I told you that my dream for all public schools was to have a Science Technology Engineering and Math classroom equipped with 1 computer per child and strong internet because by investing in that, we are giving the youth the tools they need to have jobs anywhere in the world but I pray that there will be enough work in our country that going abroad won’t be necessary,” she said.
For Bimby, choosing healthcare for his first endorsement was a personal decision shaped by his family’s experiences with illness and his understanding of how important access to medical care can be.
In a press release, he also recalled one of the lessons his mother taught him from an early age: to take care of his health before problems arise.
“My mom always told me that if you don’t take care of your health at an early age, your health problems might catch up to you,” he said. “So, I believe that as early as you can, make sure that your health is well taken care of.”
