Regine Velasquez-Alcasid shared her take on concertgoers posting full performances online, saying she knows it is unavoidable these days but personally does not support the practice.
The Asia's Songbird was asked about her thoughts over concertgoers uploading full videos of artists performing live during a press conference for her FINALE concert. The issue first sparked online discussion and mixed reactions last August.
"I don't think we can avoid it," she began.
Regine said she personally does not like the practice, pointing out that recordings taken by concertgoers may not capture the actual experience inside the venue. She also observed how online viewers can focus on criticizing an artist instead of simply enjoying the performance.
"Personally, I don't like it because one, the sound is awful. [And] two, the audience is different. I really believe na 'yung internet audience doesn't want to be entertained because they're actually judges. They just want to judge, they don't really want to watch. They do not want to be entertained. They want to nitpick the performance,” she expressed.
"As a performer, I feel bad about it. That shouldn't be that way," she added.
Regine then explained why she believes a live performance should not be judged based on a recording uploaded online.
"A performance shouldn't be judged, especially a live performance. You cannot compare a live performance to a recorded one...A live performance has adrenaline. You breathe, you have flats and sharps, but at the same time, with all those imperfections, doon nanggagaling 'yung feelings. Doon nanggagaling 'yung puso. Doon mo mararamdaman kung anong nararamdaman ng performer.”

She emphasized that those imperfections are part of being a live performer are what allow audiences to feel the emotion of the moment.
She also added that a person may opt to listen to officially released digital recordings for a cleaner audio instead of watching recorded concert videos online.
She continued: "Ang totoong mga performers, meron talagang mga imperfections...Human beings are not perfect. They're supposed to make mistakes...create those little imperfections."

Regine also pointed out that constantly holding up a phone or recording device can keep concertgoers from fully experiencing the show themselves.
"Also, don't you find it kind of distracting while you're watching, you're holding a phone? How do you actually feel the live impact of the song if you're holding a phone? You're watching in your little screen [when you can] actually put your phone down so that you can feel the impact while you're watching the performance."
"You're not going to be able to feel that same feeling...that's just my personal opinion," she maintained.
Regine is set to hold her sold-out FINALE concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on October 17, 18, and 19.
