Kim Soo-hyun is gradually stepping back into the spotlight as he begins rebuilding his career after a lengthy period away from the public eye.
According to The Korea Times, Soo-hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, recently released clips from his interview with Indonesian broadcaster RCTI+ where he reflected on becoming an actor.
“I feel like I made the right choice becoming an actor,” he said, as translated by the news outlet. “I think it might be interesting to ask fans what kind of character they would like to see me play.”

Throughout his career as an actor, Soo-hyun has bagged several accolades, including Artist of the Year (Actor) in the 2024 Asia Artist Awards for his hit drama Queen of Tears and Outstanding Hallyu TV Series at the 9th Seoul International Drama Awards for My Love from the Star.
Soo-hyun also shared in the interview that he would like to visit Bali and gave viewers a glimpse of some of the personal items he carries in his bag. He also appeared noticeably slimmer compared with his previous public appearances and remained cheerful throughout the conversation.
His reflection came after his appearance at the network’s 37th anniversary live special in Jakarta on August 23.
Marking his first television appearance since his hiatus, Soo-hyun performed “Dreaming” from the soundtrack of the 2011 drama Dream High.
The song holds a special place in Kim’s career as it was featured in the drama where he portrayed aspiring singer Song Sam-dong, whose journey helped establish Kim as one of South Korea’s rising stars.
The actor’s remarks have drawn attention as he resumes entertainment activities after he stepped away from the spotlight amid controversy surrounding his past relationship with late actress Kim Sae-ron.
He suspended his activities in March 2025 after allegations surfaced concerning the late actress, including claims that they had dated when she was a minor.
In July, South Korean police cleared the actor of allegations that he had violated the country’s Child Welfare Act, citing insufficient evidence to establish proof on the allegations.
His appearance in Jakarta became a significant moment in his return, putting him in front of cameras and an audience again after more than a year. He performed onstage and interacted with Indonesian fans.
Soo-hyun is set to appear as a presenter at the 2026 The Fact Music Awards at Busan Asiad Main Stadium on September 19. The event will mark his first official public appearance in South Korea after the hiatus.
He will then return to Manila for a fan meeting on October 2 at the SM Mall of Asia, before attending the 2026 Asia Artist Awards, which will take place at Kaohsiung National Stadium in Taiwan on December 5 and 6.
