MANILA — Celebrating the fulfillment of his lifelong dream, hitmaker and singer-songwriter Maki serenaded fans with his viral songs, each representing a different color and emotion, at his KOLORCOASTER concert held Friday, November 7, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Beyond the magic of his music and the stellar performances of his guests, the show’s heart lay in Maki’s pursuit of passion — and his message for others to follow theirs, too.

"Your dreams are not written in the stars, but in your hearts," the 25-year-old singer told Zushis, the name of his fandom, as a galaxy-painted LED glowed behind him.

KOLORCOASTER, Maki’s first-ever sold-out solo concert, brought his new album of the same name to life.

The show featured not just the expected emotional theme park of young adulthood, but also an intergalactic journey, reflected in the concert’s visuals and promotional designs.

His opening performance of his yearning song "Kahel na langit" set the warm tone of his concert, quickly followed by songs like "Bughaw", "Nangungulila", "Turning Green", "Namumula", and "Indigo (With U)," among others.

Maki also dedicated “Itim na Ulap” to fur parents, leaving a touching message: “Iba-iba ang mundo natin, pero ‘yung mga pets natin, tayo lang ang mundo nila.”

HOW MAKI BECAME 'MAKI'

The singer-songwriter took a trip down memory lane when Yeng Constantino, the "Philippines’ Pop Rock Royalty", joined him on stage. He recalled how she inspired him since he was young.

"No'ng college ako, nagbabanda ako. Lagi kong kinakanta mga kanta mo. Lagi akong panalo," Maki told Yeng, after they did a duet of the latter's timeless hit song "Cool Off."

The pop rock icon also showed a solo performance of "Siguro."

Maki expressed deep gratitude to his fans, recalling how he once only dreamed of moments like these.

“Akala ko noon, weird lang akong bata. Now, [with Zushis] I feel normal,” he said. “And it’s okay to be weird."

The crowd cheered, agreeing that uniqueness and creativity as an artist are essential.

"Thanks for letting me be Maki, for helping me be myself," he told them.

After telling his fans he was about to do something new, Maki both sang and dance to "ROYGBIV" with his siblings Haro and Clare.

SUPPORT FOR PINOY ARTISTS

Maki also emphasized his advocacy of supporting Filipino artists. He introduced and thanked the Pinoy illustrators who helped in the making of his album, which he said took him and the album producers several sleepless nights.

Other OPM artists also joined Maki on stage, performing both with him and solo — including Jolianne for “Palayo sa Mundo” and Angela Ken for “Sikulo.”

The highlight of the night was when Maki picked up a surprise guest from backstage, onboard a familiar jeepney set up once shown in the music video of his megahit song "Dilaw."

The Big Dome glowed yellow as he showed up on stage holding hands and singing with BINI’s Maloi for an emotional duet.

Cementing the mark of his first-ever solo sold-out concert at the Big Dome, Maki once again changed the lyrics in his hit song “Saan”.

"Sa QC, sa UP, KOLOR COASTER sa Araneta, pagkalipas ng ilang taon, makikita mong walang tinapon!" he and the Zushis sang along.
