MANILA — The Philippines is set to take part in the inaugural edition of the Eurovision Song Contest Asia in 2026, marking the expansion of the globally renowned music competition into the region.
Organizers announced Tuesday that the contest will debut later this year, bringing together at least 10 countries across Asia in a new platform that mirrors the long-running European event known for showcasing original music and national talent.
Among the confirmed participants are South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, along with the Philippines, which will be represented by ABS-CBN.
The competition builds on the legacy of the Eurovision Song Contest, which has run for nearly 70 years and draws hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide. Its Asian edition aims to highlight the region’s diverse musical styles while maintaining the contest’s core theme of being “United by Music.”
Organizers said the show is designed as a pan-Asian platform where artists can represent their countries through original performances, offering wider regional exposure and opportunities for cultural exchange.
More participating countries are expected to be announced in the coming months as the competition expands.
The inaugural grand final is scheduled for November 14 in Bangkok, Thailand.
