P-pop Kings SB19 and the Nation’s Girl Group BINI surprised fans when they crossed paths in Rohnert Park, Northern California, where both groups had tour stops at Graton Resort and Casino.
Meeting up in Rohnert was special for both groups according to Stell.
“‘Yung ganitong klaseng pakakataon po na pagkikita namin is our breather din po sa mga nakakapagod na tour, nakaka-drain na show, at ‘yung makakita kami ng mga friends sa industry is something na refreshing at mas nakaka-excite pa po na tumuloy sa mga next stops pa po namin,” he said.
SB19 just performed at the Lollapalooza Music Festival and the group couldn’t be more grateful to have represented the country and made history.
“Super amazing po kasi siyempre, for Lollapalooza kami lang po 'yung all-Filipino group doon and parang nakakatuwa po na as of now, nararating na po ng OPM at ng P-pop lahat ng ganitong estado,” said Josh.
But it doesn’t end there. After Lollapalooza, SB19 is heading to Japan for their very first Summer Sonic Music Festival performance. They’ll take over the festival’s Massive Stage in Osaka, Japan on August 14, 6:05 p.m. Japan time (5:05 p.m. Philippine time). They will then fly immediately to Tokyo for their set at the Pacific Stage of the festival, the following day, August 15, at 5:50 p.m. Japan time.
“Nakaka-proud po, we’re gonna represent the country…first time namin both na mag-Summer Sonic so it’s a big thing also sa Japan, and again nire-represent namin 'yung country namin and we make the Filipinos proud na we can do it too,” said Ken.
Justin candidly joked, “Unang-una sa lahat, hindi na po kami magle-leather jacket. We’re pretty sure na mainit po ‘yung stage, pero mas paiinitin pa po namin siya sa aming performance.”
He added, “Pinaghandaan po namin ‘yun, we have more rest right now. Japan is one of our favorite countries, so we’ll make it special for them.”
Everything from details of their setlist to their outfits are still under wraps, but they are fired up to perform for their Japanese fans. The kings of P-pop have performed and have been invited in Japan a number of times already, but this is their first Summer Sonic appearance.
“Extra special po siya for the Filipino industry, kasi kasama rin natin ang BINI. Nakakatuwa lang na full force ba, ang saya-saya,” said Pablo.
And Ken wishes “in the future, madami pang mga Filipino artists na makapunta rin internationally and maka-penetrate ‘yung Filipino music, OPM, internationally. And that’s our dream and that’s our goal ever since the beginning.”
