Filipino short film "KABABATA: The Way We Became" bagged the Best Director prize at the 17th Ahmedabad International Film Festival (AIFF) in India.
Directed by Earl Justin Lipana, this marks the film's entry to the international festival scene.
Produced by EJLCreatives, the short film was one of the Filipino entries in the Foreign Short Film category at the annual international festival held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, from September 30 to October 2.
On social media, the producer shared the film's international milestone.
John Ferdinand Lipana, who was nominated for Best Actor, attended the festival alongside the film's director.
The film also bagged nominations for Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
"KABABATA: The Way We Became," was set during the early years of the Philippines’ controversial war on drugs. The film "explores the experiences, relationships, and circumstances that shape people into who they eventually become. Rather than simply focusing on the events surrounding its characters, the film takes a more intimate and human approach, using its creative direction and storytelling to explore themes that resonate beyond the Philippines."
