Just a year after returning as a four-member band, IV of Spades celebrated another milestone as they took home two of the major recognitions at this year’s Awit Awards.
Accepting the Album of the Year award, Blaster Silonga expressed his gratitude to the Awit Awards, their fellow artists, their team, and the fans who continue to support their music.
“Maraming salamat sa Awit Awards, para sa award na ito. Maraming salamat sa lahat ng artists na nandito ngayon na mga colleagues namin at marami rito ang tinitingala namin. Album of the year, thank you. Sana lahat tayo guys gumawa pa rin tayo ng album kasi masaya makinig ng isang body of work,” Blaster said.
“Maraming salamat sa mga kabanda ko at mga best friend ko na nandito ngayon on stage.”
Badjao de Castro also took the opportunity to thank his bandmates, whom he described as people he loves, saying: “Gusto ko magpasalamat unang una sa pagkiktia kaming apat, niloko kami ni Zild. Gusto ko magpasalamat sa mga kabanda ko na aking love.”
Unique Salonga, meanwhile, shared how the recognition has motivated them to continue making music together.
“Maraming salamat sa inyo lahat. Salamat sa pagbibigay halaga sa music namin,” he stated. “Sobra nakakagana ito. Gagawa pa kami ng marami.”
For Zild Benitez, the band’s reunion was something he never expected when he previously expressed his wish to work with a group again.
“After noong pangapat kong solo album, sabi ko sa panglima ko sana may kasama akong grupo or banda kasi medyo lonely gumawa magisa. Hindi ko akalain na kaming apat pala ulit iyon. Maraming salamat. Ang sarap pala magmusic,” he stated.

The band’s win comes almost a year after IV of Spades returned to the music scene as a four-member group, following Unique’s departure in 2018 to pursue a solo career.
Their reunion resulted in Andalucia, which features 12 tracks, including “Kabisado,” “Nanaman,” “Konsensya,” “Suliranin,” and their comeback single “Aura.”
“Aura” also earned the band the Song of the Year award, giving IV of Spades another major recognition on the same night.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumusporta ng music namin, sa lahat ng taong tumulong para maging possible itong music namin,” Blaster said while accepting the award.
Zild also reflected on what “Aura” and the band’s reunion mean to them. “Maraming salamat kasi naniniwala pa rin kayo sa aming apat. Itong kanta na ito na ‘Aura,’ kaya namin ito nagawa at kaya kami bumalik last year para yung mga bagay na imposible puwede palang mangyari ulit.”
Aside from Album of the Year and Song of the Year, IV of Spades also received the Best Sound Engineered Recording award for their song “Monster.”
The band is now preparing to bring their music overseas as they gear up for their US and Canada tour, which kicks off on October 3 at The Centre in Vancouver.
Meanwhile, IV of Spades recently released their newest single “Isang Pag-ibig” under Sony Music Entertainment.
