We may usually see her portray serious roles in the films and teleseryes that she has starred in throughout the decades that she has been in showbiz, but “Saving Grace: The Untold Story” star Janice de Belen is actually a cheerful person in real life.
And we got to see it in this episode of “Web’s Most Searched Questions,” wherein she enthusiastically responded to a few personal and career-related questions about herself.
First off is her “new teleserye” which, as mentioned, is “Saving Grace.” According to her, it features different types of mothers and she plays one of them, which is Helena Sarmiento, the doting mom of Anna (Julia Montes), Princess (Mary Joy Apostol), and Erin (Sophia Reola). She describes the journey of her character as “masalimuot” or complicated, apparently alluding to the hard-hitting challenges that their family will encounter in the future episodes of the series.
Throughout her almost five decades in the industry, the veteran actress has already done a slew of acting projects. Among those, she believes that her most “iconic movie” is the 1988 Filipino horror flick “Tiyanak”, where the tagline “anak ni Janice” came from. Meanwhile, her most iconic soap opera is “Flordeluna,” which aired from 1979 until 1984. Her portrayal of the title role is considered her breakthrough and earned her the moniker "80s Teen Drama Princess," which she shared with her fellow young actress, the late Julie Vega.
Janice then opted not to comment about her “acting,” as she might come off as boastful if she did. Thus, she simply wished viewers, “Sana gusto n’yo.”
When it comes to her “hairstyle,” we’ve been probably accustomed to seeing her either in bob or pixie cuts. Well, she disclosed that it’s because she really prefers to have short hair even though others want her to have it long. And lastly, she couldn’t help but laugh upon being asked about her “younger days,” to which she enthused that she was really “payat” back in the day.
Catch Janice de Belen on “Saving Grace: The Untold Story,” weeknights at 9:30 PM on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), A2Z, and TV5.
