She may be a scion of two of the most influential clans in Philippine showbiz—the Gutierrezes and the De Leons—yet Janine Gutierrez has managed to step out of the shadows of her famous families, establish herself as a star in her own right, and make her mark as an award-winning, exceptional, and multi-faceted actress.
In the five years that she has been in ABS-CBN following her transfer in 2021, Janine has astounded us with her amazing versatility and remarkable acting performances in the different shows she has starred in. And this 2026, she once again shines in her latest portrayal in the suspense-filled thriller "The Loyalty Game," which more Kapamilya audiences are set to witness once its expanded version starts airing across ABS-CBN Studios platforms this October 5.
But ahead of the much-awaited TV premiere of "The Loyalty Game: Level Up," let us first look back on Janine's remarkable acting stints as a certified Kapamilya artist in this episode of Kapamilya Spotlight.
Right in her first few months, she immediately appeared in not just one but two programs. Marking her first major acting assignment after her move to ABS-CBN was the "Quarantine Pass" episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya," where she starred as Jex, the female letter sender Jex whose friendship with former colleague, Zaldy (JM de Guzman), eventually blossomed into romance after they got stuck together in Baguio during the initial pandemic lockdown.
Janine then had her Kapamilya teleserye debut via the romantic comedy series "Marry Me, Marry You," which she headlined opposite Paulo Avelino. She endeared herself to viewers as Camille Miraflor-Legaspi, a woman who had to navigate married life with her husband Andrei, while dealing with differences in their social status and the influence of their respective families and friends.
When she renewed her contract with network in 2023, she not only had the opportunity to work on her "dream project" but to also showcase her versatility and range as an actress in the mystery crime drama series "Dirty Linen."
She indeed delivered a compelling performance as Alexa Salvacion, the fierce and fearless lead protagonist who assumed the identity of Mila Dela Cruz in her determined pursuit of exacting vengeance against the influential Fiero family. Alongside the other members of “Team Resbak,” Alexa sought justice following the mysterious disappearances of their loved ones many years ago.
The following year, she proved that she could definitely pull off a kontrabida role as well via her portrayal of the ferocious Iris Buenavidez-De Vera in the revenge drama series "Lavender Fields." Her critically acclaimed portrayal of a wife seeking revenge against her philandering husband Tyrone, played by her current boyfriend Jericho Rosales, and the titular character played by Jodi Sta. Maria with whom he had a secret illicit affair, earned her nominations and recognitions from various award-giving bodies as a supporting actress.
And this year, Janine once again makes her star shine in "The Loyalty Game" as she takes on the role of Silvana "Ana" Madrigal-Santos, a dutiful and loving wife whose seemingly perfect life shatters upon discovering the dark and disturbing secrets of her husband, Ben, also portrayed by Jericho. Determined to uncover the truth, Ana turns to the “loyalty testers” she hires to help her find out what her husband has been hiding.
What secrets will Ana find out about Ben, and how will these revelations affect the marriage she has painstakingly built and nurtured for years? And, of course, are you ready to see how Janine will slay yet another challenging role?
