As the emotional arcs within “Someone, Someday” unravel, viewers come to understand Billy’s (Kathryn Bernardo) deep-seated resentment towards their estranged father as well as Oliver’s (Migz Casimiro) determination to accept him in their lives once again. Meanwhile, Enrico’s (Rowell Santiago) complicated situation is shown to be a difficult watch, particularly when his efforts to explain the truth about himself continue to fail.
Let’s recap these ten heart-wrenching moments where Enrico’s unexpected return sparked conflicts:
#1: Enrico approaches Billy after a long time
Arriving in the park with Oliver and Jordan (James Reid), Billy then thought of buying drinks at a store nearby, where she was unfortunately spotted by Enrico. Once he approached the shocked Billy, she immediately walked away, refusing to pay attention to his explanations for abandoning them years ago. In spite of Enrico’s persistence, Billy sincerely hoped that this would be the last time they would cross paths.
#2: Enrico falsely introduces himself as Eric
Since reconciling with Billy proved to be unattainable at the moment, Enrico worked out a way to get closer to his son Oliver by being hired as a canteen supervisor at his school. There, he easily silenced Oliver’s bullies and eventually disguised himself as Eric.
#3: Enrico quickly hides from Billy
After several days, Enrico (as Eric) became Oliver’s friend and protector while at school. However, when Billy unexpectedly accompanied Oliver into the canteen, Enrico hid right away and arranged the inventory instead of revealing himself. Billy also noticed the changes made by Enrico on the school canteen’s menu, which now offered options suitable for diabetic customers like Oliver.
#4: Enrico and Oliver listen to each other’s stories
During their conversation on school grounds, Oliver finally handed Enrico the food pack he prepared and went on to mention his adoptive mother Precious (Dimples Romana) as well as his long-departed parents. On the other hand, Enrico talked about his children, saying that his eldest runs a company while his youngest is just as smart as Oliver. Moments later, Oliver shared that he was hoping to study at the University of Kingsley to visit his father’s grave—unaware that Enrico is actually the father he has been looking for.
#5: Enrico faces Billy’s unbending disapproval
In the middle of the night, Enrico visited Billy’s residence, where she confronted him again as he pleaded for another conversation. Frustrated, Billy showed an article that detailed Enrico’s infamous reputation as a Filipino expat wanted for an investment fraud. Even so, Enrico maintained that he wanted to atone for his mistakes and deliver an important revelation to Billy. To no avail, Billy threatened him with a restraining order and a plan to reopen his criminal case in Canada.
#6: Enrico hears about Oliver’s dream of helping Billy
Oliver and Enrico (as Eric) continued to interact at school, with Oliver enthusiastically discussing his ongoing boxing classes. Enrico then agreed that the sport will be beneficial to Oliver’s application to the University of Kingsley, especially since it fosters discipline and resilience. Things were suddenly gloomy when Oliver thought about leaving Billy, but he quickly became optimistic about job opportunities in the future, which would enable him to care for the hardworking Billy.
#7: Enrico speaks with Lucy regarding his truth
As Oliver sought Enrico’s suggestions for his essay, Lucy (Marnie Lapus) wondered if Enrico could just divulge the long-hidden truth about his identity to his children. Responding, Enrico certainly tried numerous times, yet Billy refused to listen on all occasions. At this point, he’s simply contented with his bond with Oliver but still wishes to reconnect with Billy.
#8: Enrico saves Oliver and meets Precious
Taking a break in the school garden, Enrico carefully read Oliver’s essay, where he discovered that Oliver’s greatest inspiration is his departed parents, who are watching him from heaven. Out of nowhere, Enrico’s former boss called, ultimately warning him that he’ll be tracked down in the Philippines for his unresolved debts. In the same moment, Oliver nearly fainted, though Enrico managed to assist him alongside Precious.
#9: Enrico visits the injured Billy at the hospital
Billy was admitted to the hospital following Caloy’s (McCoy de Leon) physical assault on her. Late at night, Enrico took the rare chance to visit, even making an effort to leave her a birthday card as quietly as he could. The moment Billy softly called him in her sleep; Enrico froze and gazed regretfully at Billy. In his mind, she was still his young daughter, who would always wait for him to come home.
#10: Enrico teaches Oliver how to react to being teased
Oliver and Biboy were again at odds, particularly since Biboy was teasing Oliver about being “Ninay’s boy,” or being overly attached to his adoptive mother, Precious. As expected, it was Enrico who prevented another fight from happening. He also reminded Oliver that there’s nothing shameful about being a loving son.
