The long wait and grueling war of Tanggol (Coco Martin) against the Guerreros has finally come to an end as he took oath as the mayor of Manila. After being sworn in by National Electoral Council (NEC) Commissioner Ignacio Medina (Simon Ibarra), Tanggol delivered his first-ever mayoral address, in which he set forth his plans for the city as its new leader.

He began his speech by expressing his gratitude to everyone who relentlessly supported him—from rallying behind him during his candidacy and voting for him to joining him in his fight to overthrow the powerful clan. Since many people had sacrificed their lives, especially in the latest battle that happened at the city hall, Tanggol stressed that his success is definitely their success as well.

Aware of the weight and significance of the power vested in him, as well as the yearning of his constituents or a government of integrity genuinely dedicated in serving the people, he pledged to implement changes with utmost clarity, sincerity, and accountability.

His first step is transparency, which he would exemplify by submitting his SALN (statement of assets, liabilities, and net worth) on his first day of service, as he aims to show people that there’s no room for personal interests in public service. He would also eradicate corruption in all levels of the local government unit by holding accountable those who commit and tolerate corruption, may they be public officials, politicians, police officers, or fixers.

Mayor Tanggol vowed to solve Manila’s problems with floodings, crimes, and traffics via strict enforcement of pertinent laws, as well as carry out projects related to livelihood, healthcare, housing, sports, arts, and education, which aim to alleviate the lives of his constituents. As he ended his speech, the venue was filled with loud chants and jovial cheers from everyone present in his inauguration.

Don’t miss the remaining episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” as it races toward its highly anticipated “Ang Huling Laban ni Tanggol” finale, airing weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, ALLTV2, A2Z, iWant, and Kapamilya Online Live (KOL).
