Taking a break from offering their professional services to both local and foreign clients, fifty (50) industrious virtual assistants came together to represent the “songbayanan” of the weekend during the May 23 and 24 episodes of “Everybody, Sing!” The Songbayanang Virtual Assistants not only seized the opportunity to compete for the ₱1 million jackpot prize, but also shared their inspiring stories of success and perseverance with Kapamilya viewers.
Introducing herself as “Virtuala Senadora,” a woman preoccupied with her many clients, host Vice Ganda entered the set wearing a fashion-forward floral terno dress, tastefully paired with hair rollers carefully placed in her hair. She then led the “songbayanan” in a sing-along of Sponge Cola’s “Bitiw” to help ease their nerves.
The “represingtatives” of the “Sing in the Blank” round lifted the spirits of the entire “songbayanan” after perfectly scoring 10 correct answers in the missing lyrics of Regine Velasquez’s “Pangako,” earning an initial 20 additional seconds for the jackpot timer and ₱2,000 for each of the ten players. Comedians Petite and Iyah Mina tested the lip-reading skills of the second batch of “songpu” virtual assistants with Ben&Ben’s “Saranggola,” resulting in five correct guesses and 10 more seconds added to the Sunday jackpot round.
Sought-after leading man Donny Pangilinan charmed both Kapamilyas and the Songbayanang Virtual Assistants with a short but sweet cover of Rico Blanco’s timeless love song, “Your Universe.” The talented actor later chose four “represingtatives” to join him in successively supplying the missing lyrics of “Mula Sa Puso.” Donny and his team eventually found their rhythm in the group’s fifth and final attempt, winning ₱20,000 for the “songbayanan” and increasing their additional time to 31 seconds.
Bringing twice the fun and energy, Soul Diva Klarisse De Guzman impressed the “songbayanan” with a powerful performance of “Sirena” by Gloc-9. Klarisse later teamed up with the community-singing game show’s resident band, Six Part Invention, to perform her song “Ikaw Ay Ako” during the “The Choo-Sing One” round. Given a choice between two sets of lyrics, the Songbayanang Virtual Assistants earned 16 additional seconds after getting eight correct answers, bringing their total to 47 seconds.
Much to the delight of the “songbayanan,” the set of “Everybody, Sing!” suddenly transformed into a Zumba dance studio, embracing the empowering mantra that “chubby is the new sexy.” Led by occasional Zumba instructor Iyah Mina, the Songbayanang Virtual Assistants moved their bodies to “Ikembot Mo” by Baby Dolls.
With 18 seconds from “EngliSing Ang Lyrics” and 36 seconds from “Ayu-Sing Mo,” the virtual assistant “represingtatives” entered the “Everybody GuesSing” jackpot round with 101 seconds on the clock. By listening only to instrumentals, their chance of winning the ₱1 million jackpot prize seemed within reach as they quickly identified the correct titles of seven songs across the first two rounds. Rob Deniel’s “Kundiman” was the last song title the “songbayanan” correctly answered at the four-second mark, before they ran out of time while attempting to name the two remaining songs.
Despite falling short, the Songbayanang Virtual Assistants went home with happy hearts, sharing their ₱180,000 winnings among themselves.
