Soon after her perfectly delightful guest appearance on the June 6 episode of “Everybody, Sing!” where she performed alongside the equally enthusiastic participants of Songbayanang Gen X and Millennial Singles for the “Singko Blangko” round, Queen Mother Karla Estrada happily divulged her most beloved go-to songs in this exclusive interview.
Among her irreplaceable karaoke selections, Karla readily decided on any of the Aegis songs, specifically the iconic “Luha.” Before getting started with the “Singko Blangko” segment in the episode, the actress-host also expressed her fondness for “Halik,” another Aegis’ timeless hit.
To accompany her bath or shower routine, Karla opted for sentimental music, particularly Julia Fordham’s 1991 single “(Love Moves In) Mysterious Ways.” Moreover, for soothing road trips, she warmly suggested her son Daniel Padilla’s catchy discography, with songs that range from uplifting tunes to emotive serenades.
The Grammy-winning soloist Olivia Dean then emerged as Karla’s newest favorite performer, considering she typically tunes into Olivia’s genre-bending music while strolling around parks. Alternatively, in the event of a sad or emotional state, the Queen Mother also stated that nothing would replace any groundbreaking tracks released in the 50s or 70s.
When discussing OPM, Karla ultimately named Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez, as her most admired musician of all time, with the singer’s “Tuwing Umuulan” and “Dadalhin” as her undisputed favorites.
Finally, Gloria Gaynor’s perpetually empowering single, “I Will Survive,” was thought of by Karla as the song she dedicates to her strong identity as a woman and a mother.
