Mommy Ganda, whose real name is Leonida Aguinaldo Abion, first entered our feeds and turned into one of our favorite 'nanays' during the pandemic after a prank by her son Lester blew up online. The mother-and-so duo became known as The Aguinaldos as they gained more popularity in the content creation world, and now they've slowly entered showbiz too.
The Aguinaldos are currently seen as the two-in-one Lucky Star (the celebrities assigned to the briefcases) on "Kapamilya Deal or No Deal" Season 6. And from their vlogs, Mommy Ganda brings her relatable, hilarious one-liners all the way to Banker's territory. Here are some of her funniest ‘hirits’ on the show.
First up is Mommy Ganda's adorable fangirl moment with Vilma Santos during the pilot episode were the Star For All Seasons played alongside her daughter-in-law Jessy Mendiola. To prove her credentials as a true blue Vilmanian, Mommy Ganda pulled out her receipt—the handkerchief Vilma had given her when they first met at a press conference. Maybe she was just so excited that she talked extra intense, leaving her fellow Lucky Stars in stitches when host Luis Manzano jokingly asked why she sounded angry. "Kayo lang po 'yung kilala kong malambing pero galit na galit,” Luis wondered.
Even on "Kapamilya Deal or No Deal," Lester still finds ways to troll his mom. In an episode where Jopay Paguia was chosen by the Lucky Wheel to play, Mommy Ganda was accused of intentionally ruining Jopay's luck with the P500,000 briefcase she was holding. So, in defense, she exclaimed, "Hindi ako ang naglagay n'yan!" Lester then chimed in that his mom had always dreamed of dancing like Jopay, "Kung may mga pinalaki ang Sexbomb, meron ding pinatanda ang Sexbomb." Of course, Mommy Ganda was asked to give a sample and let's just say we weren’t prepared for her "buwis-buhay" moves.
When it was their turn to play, Mommy Ganda got pranked when Lester joked that he'd leave her to face the game solo, which switched on her "strict mom" mode and made her blurt out, "Pwede ba 'yun?!" Later on, she mellowed down as she tried to charm Banker and begged him, "Pwede bang magmakaawa ako at ibigay mo sa amin 'to ngayong araw?"
We've already heard a lot of confessions on the show, but this one takes it to another level. Mommy Ganda admitted that she once prayed to marry a foreigner because, according to the older folks in their hometown, "Mahilig sa pangit 'yung mga foreigner."
Mommy Ganda's humor can even match the quick wit of veteran comedian Long Mejia. There was an episode where the Lucky Stars and the audience promptly lost it when she accidentally called him "Lolong," as if he was a crocodile.
Because of their hilarious 'chemistry,' the Lucky Stars are now shipping Mommy Ganda and Long. Rumor has it he's fond of chatting with her backstage, which he didn't deny, joking that he suddenly wants to look and act young, "nagmumurang-kamias" as he puts it, whenever he sees Mommy Ganda. Someone call Banker because we weren't ready for this plot twist!
Their banter is now officially one of our favorite side dishes on the show. The latest punchline is that Long would make a movie for Mommy Ganda titled "Ang Lihim ng Golden Biyuda" (a playful spoof of the classic Filipino film "Ang Lihim ng Golden Buddha") which he plans to shoot in the mountains. Well, Mommy Ganda said she's used to hiking anyway, "Laban 'to! Sanay ako sa bundok!"
