Before stepping into the spotlight as an actress, Maika first made waves as a popular tennis player. In 2016, she joined ABS-CBN’s talent agency, Star Magic, marking the beginning of her entertainment journey. That same year, she became part of the “It’s Showtime” girl group GirlTrends.
Her exposure opened the door to new opportunities. Later that year, she appeared in the drama series “Magpahanggang Wakas” as Chesca Lozado, the daughter of Jenna (Gelli de Belen) and Tristan (John Estrada).
Her effective portrayal paved the way for more projects. In 2017, Maika took on the role of Malina in the fantasy drama “La Luna Sangre,” playing the cruel yet loyal servant of Supremo (Richard Gutierrez). Her character clashed with Malia (Kathryn Bernardo) and Tristan (Daniel Padilla) in a series of intense battles.
Soon after, she appeared in the revenge drama “Wildflower” as Stefanie Oytengco, the eldest daughter of Divine (Alma Concepcion). Stefanie was kidnapped by Lily Cruz (Maja Salvador) as part of her plan to extract information about Emilia (Aiko Melendez).
Maika’s career continued to grow in 2018. She starred alongside Erich Gonzales in “The Blood Sisters,” playing her cousin Andrea. She also joined the cast of “Sana Dalawa ang Puso” as Irish and later appeared in “Ngayon at Kailanman” as Tamara.
By 2019, she appeared in the Kapamilya action series “Sandugo” as Inez Fajardo, who was consumed by her obsessive love for Leo/Aristotle, played by Aljur Abrenica.
After a break from teleseryes, she returned in 2021 through “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” as Cassandra Jose, a character involved in political corruption, working closely with her aunt, First Lady Lily Ann Hidalgo (Lorna Tolentino).
Maika kept the momentum going, making a guest appearance in “The Iron Heart” as Lea before turning up the kontrabida flair in “High Street.” There, she portrayed Cynthia Rivas, the managing director of OnQ and the professional rival of Sky (Andrea Brillantes).
She also joined the cast of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” as Atty. Vera Salvidar, a scheming lawyer entangled in shady plots with David (McCoy de Leon). The action genre proved to be a strong fit for Maika, as she later starred in “Roja” as Rita Prudencio, one of the hotel’s VIP guests who was forced to fight for their freedom after being caught in a dangerous hostage situation.
Carrying her kontrabida streak forward, Maika is set to spice up primetime once again as part of the versatile cast of “The Loyalty Game: Level Up.” In the series, she plays one of the loyalty testers who runs a business dedicated to uncovering infidelity in relationships.
Maika portrays Carlota Aberin, who orchestrates schemes and manipulation to help Ana (Janine Gutierrez) investigate her husband Ben’s (Jericho Rosales) possible affair. With her compelling portrayal, Maika is set to deliver another memorable performance that audiences should watch out for.
Having been part of numerous teleseryes throughout her career, Maika has become one of the familiar faces audiences instantly recognize on screen. She continues to showcase her versatility and talent, leaving viewers excited to see what she brings to the next chapter of her career.
