Philippine bet John Wayne Alba showcased his physique and style during the preliminary competition of the 18th Mister international in Thailand.
The 22-year-old beauty king was born and raised in Italy to Filipino parents. Before pursuing modeling and entertainment in the Philippines, Alba worked various jobs in Italy, including as a plumber and a factory worker.
He later worked as a carbon-fiber technician, eventually getting the opportunity to lead a production line.
Alba, then, pursued pageantry and has competed in several competitions before earning the Mister International Philippines 2026 title. He represented the Philippines at Top Model of Universe 2023, where he finished second runner-up, and was also named Mister Star Italia 2024. He also competed as Mister Republika ng Pilipinas Europe Teen 2022.
During the preliminaries, Alba first showcased his physique in the swimwear segment, before shifting to the evening wear in a sleek creation by Filipino designer Nat Manilag.
Alba also exhibited his national costume, featuring a classic Barong Tagalog designed by Albert Andrada.
However, it drew mixed reactions from pageant audiences. The choice stood in contrast to the more extravagant costumes that often catch the attention of viewers and fans.
While some appreciated the simplicity and connection to Filipino heritage, others expressed a preference for bolder and more elaborate designs that make a bigger visual statement.
Alba is seeking to keep the Mister International crown in the Philippines, following Kirk Bondad’s victory in 2025.
Bondad became the second Filipino to win the international title, following Neil Perez’s triumph in 2014.
The 18th Mister International coronation is set for September 26 in Bangkok, Thailand.
