MANILA — Shakespeare in the Park returns to Makati this October with a new production of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” following CAST PH’s staging of “Twelfth Night” last year.
Presented by Ayala Land, Make It Makati and Circuit Makati in partnership with CAST PH, the production will be staged October 2 and 3 at Ayala Triangle and October 4 at Circuit Park. All performances begin at 7 p.m., with free admission and donations encouraged.
Directed by CAST PH artistic director Nelsito Gomez, the production stars Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo as Lady Macbeth in her first Shakespeare production, opposite Tarek El Tayech in the title role.
El Tayech returns to the role after playing Macbeth in Theatre Titas’ 2019 production. He has also appeared in several recent Shakespeare productions, including CAST PH’s productions of “Othello” in 2024 and 2025, and “Twelfth Night” in 2025 and its 2026 rerun.
Also in the cast are Topper Fabregas, Cholo Ledesma, Altair Alonso, Dippy Arceo and Gomez.
"Macbeth" is a tragedy about a Scottish general whose consumed ambition — stoked by a prophecy and his ruthless wife — drives him to murder his way to the throne, spiraling into paranoia and ultimately his downfall.
The production will use a streamlined outdoor staging intended to make Shakespeare more accessible to audiences.
The show is part of ARTober!, Makati’s month-long celebration of the arts and creativity.
The Shakespeare in the Park series began in October last year with CAST PH’s “Twelfth Night,” which brought Shakespeare to an outdoor setting in Makati.
