MANILA — The downward trend in diesel prices was sustained on the third day of trading though gasoline and kerosene prices remained on the higher side.
So far, based on trading in the Mean of Platts Singapore from September 28-30, the price of diesel could rise by P1.55/liter, gasoline by P0.29/L and kerosene by P0.03/L.
Jetti Petroleum president Leo Bellas said the price reduction in diesel prices is still in danger of being wiped out or further reduced as prices are expected to rise in the last two trading days.
Bellas said skirmishes have been reported in the Strait of Hormuz while there is little development in the talks between intermediaries of the US and iran.
In the Philippines, prior to the rollback last Tuesday, diesel prices rose by more than P18/L due to the three consecutive weeks of price hikes.
For gasoline, the total price hikes in the same period reached over P15/L.
MERALCO REMINDER FOR LIFELINE USERS
The country's largest power utility reminds marginalized consumers that they need to re-enroll their status to continue enjoying the discounted electricity rate.
Under the rules, Meralco said the discounted rate for those consuming up to 100 kwh is only good for three years, after which the member of the marginalized sector who are non-4Ps members, would need to re-enroll to the program.
Zaldarriaga said these members need to secure a certification from the local social welfare and development officer that they are still marginalized in order to continue availment of the benefit.
"Madali lang din naman ang proseso n'yan," he said.
