MANILA — Toyota Motor Asia (TMA) has tapped Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) as its regional training hub to lead technical instruction in Body, Paint, and Estimation (BPE) for affiliates across Asia, TMP said in a statement.
Initiated under the global direction of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), the program marks the first-ever BPE technical training held in the Philippines for international instructors, TMP said.
Toyota Motor Philippines said Toyota Asia selected the Philippines following a comprehensive capability assessment that highlighted the TMP's advanced manufacturing facilities in Santa Rosa City, Laguna, as well as the expertise of its Filipino instructional team.
The inaugural training leg ran from September 7 to 18, 2026, hosting four body repair instructors from Toyota affiliates in Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, and Pakistan. Under the guidance of TMP master trainers, participants completed intensive theoretical lectures and practical exercises designed to enforce TMC’s global competency standards.
Slated to run through 2029, the multi-year partnership establishes a framework for sustained regional collaboration. Under the current agreement, TMP will host three specialized training courses in its first year to accommodate instructors from various Asian markets.
TMP said the selection highlights the growing recognition of Filipino talent within Toyota’s global value chain. Earlier this year, TMP’s BPE team earned two global Toyota certifications in paint and estimation instructor courses. The achievement also follows a historic six-medal sweep by TMP’s line team at the Toyota 2026 Asia Pacific Skills Contest last August.
By leading these regional programs, TMP continues to elevate local technical capabilities, reinforcing its commitment to global automotive service standards under Toyota's "Best in Town" philosophy while driving local economic growth.
