MANILA — Documents from the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) presented at Monday's hearing "vindicated" former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, prosecution spokesperson Benjamin Tolosa Jr. said, as the impeachment court began discussing Vice President Sara Duterte's financial transactions.

Trillanes — who was abruptly dropped from the prosecution's list of witnesses last Friday — earlier held a press conference where he claimed that Duterte and her family had been receiving remittances from China and a possible drug lord from Davao City.

While Trillanes was unable to present his findings before the impeachment court, several documents from the AMLC mirrored some of his claims against the vice president and her husband Manases Carpio.

"In fairness to [former] Senator Trillanes, just what like happened during the before the House of Representatives it seems like he has been vindicated again by official records," Tolosa said in a press conference.

"Madami siyang sinabi na mga transactions, madaming information na narinig din natin ngayon, naconfirm doon sa mga documents and summary identified by the AMLC executive director," he said.

Among the issues that both Trillanes and the AMLC documents showed was the supposed deposit of millions in funds to Calle88 Foods Corp, the prosecution panel said.

Ito yung Calle 88," he said.

"So ito ang nagpapatunay na tayo ay hindi natin in-involve ang politika sa usaping ito because the records will speak for itself."

Duterte's camp earlier denied Trillanes' allegations, saying that the former senator has been "peddling the same exhausted lies" against the Duterte family since 2016.

The vice president's defense lawyers will continue their cross examination for AMLC executive director Ronel Buenaventura on October 6, Tuesday.
