MANILA — Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon on Tuesday rejected Vice President Sara Duterte’s claim that he could have conflict of interest over his consultancy stint with the Davao City government and his current role as prosecutor in her impeachment trial.
“Matagal ko na yang alam pero gusto ko siya magsabi na may conflict of interest sa kaso na ito,” Duterte said in a press briefing earlier in the day.
Ridon confirmed that he served as a consultant for poverty alleviation for the Davao City local government from 2018 to 2020 but argued this did not constitute any conflict of interest.
“Teh, walang conflict of interest… This is an entirely different matter,” he said in response.
“Madam VP, may tissue po rito, para sa inyo po ito,” Ridon added.
Ridon said the Vice President’s claims would not affect his role as a House prosecutor.
“We will not be distracted from our objective…This impeachment is more than me, more than the people here, but we feel and we trace her actual nervousness on the matter,” the lawmaker said.
