MANILA — The Armed Forces of the Philippines said Friday Chinese warships and coast guard vessels blocked a resupply mission for the BRP Sierra Madre.
The AFP said three People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA-N) warships and five China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels, including 2 Houbei-class missile boats, interfered with the routine humanitarian rotation and resupply (RoRe) mission to Ayungin Shoal.
According to the AFP, the M/V Lapu-Lapu and 3 Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard support vessels were hindered by the Chinese vessels some 60 nautical miles off Ayungin Shoal, preventing them from delivering supplies and rotating personnel to the BRP Sierra Madre.
