An altercation broke out between a small group of protesters and law enforcement officials including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers outside a court in Chicago where immigration proceedings are typically held.
Protesters locked arms to prevent officials, who were masked, from entering the court building.
Video images show law enforcement officials pinning several protesters to the ground. Other protesters are heard repeatedly asking officials to show their badges. At one point, an official whips out his badge and and then quickly tucks it into his sweatshirt as protesters swarm around him with their cellphones.
President Trump took office in January pledging to deport millions of immigrants in the U.S. illegally. While Trump framed the effort around removing serious criminals, thousands of suspected immigration offenders with no criminal records have been swept up in recent months.
