Angela Davocol/NCAA Philippines.MANILA — Aldous Torculas shone as San Beda University spoiled Jose Rizal University’s unbeaten record with a 65-62 victory in NCAA Season 102 men’s basketball on Saturday at the FilOil Centre in San Juan.
The Red Lions’ prized transferee spread his wings with 29 points, six rebounds, and an assist as they secured their second straight win, with Torculas also sealing the contest by going two-of-two from the foul line.
“Hindi lang kami huminto,” said Torculas, as the Red Lions handed the Heavy Bombers their first loss in three games by outlasting them in crunch time after Sean Salvador missed his three-pointer at the buzzer.
Rookie Andrei Ugaddan also starred with 11 points, six of which came in the clutch, including the go-ahead three-pointer with only 1:35 left that gave San Beda a 63-62 lead.
On the other hand, Chris Hubilla posted 14 points and three rebounds for JRU, which was playing a game that was previously postponed last September 18 due to unsafe court conditions brought about by heavy rains in San Juan.
Jamhir Eligado added 13 points, seven rebounds, and an assist, while Salvador had 11 points and Lawrence Mangubat was limited to 10 points, five assists, and five rebounds in the loss.
