Angela Davocol/NCAA Philippines.MANILA — Emilio Aguinaldo College avoided collapse to turn back San Sebastian College, 94-87, and clinch its first win in NCAA Season 102 men’s basketball on Tuesday at the FilOil Centre in San Juan.
The victory ended the Generals’ three-game skid in Group B, with Wilmar Oftana leading his squad with 18 points, nine rebounds, and a steal.
“Kinailangan talaga naming bumawi, kasi kailangan naming makuha namin yung unang panalo para sa next games, kumpyansa na lahat,” said Oftana, whose squad avoided squandering a 12-point lead earlier in the game.
Jacob Shanoda also had 18 points and five rebounds, while brothers MJ and Harvae Raymundo posted 17 and 12 points, respectively, to help EAC fend off San Sebastian’s fourth-quarter rally.
For the Golden Stags, this was their fourth straight defeat in as many games.
Nurben Muktimar helped the Golden Stags cut their deficit to one, 83-82, with his 12 points, but San Sebastian could not complete the comeback as its woes continued.
