The WTA has officially approved Manila's hosting application last week, said PHILTA. The target date of the WTA 125 is in January, coinciding with the second week of the Australian Open.

This follows the successful staging of the WTA 125 Philippine Women's Open in Manila earlier this year, also amid "innovator" Alex Eala's meteoric rise in the sport.
PHILTA board member Dyan Castillejo is inviting international players to take part in the upcoming Manila WTA tournaments.
"So even now, we'd like to invite all the international players, hopefully to put the Philippines in your calendar," said Castillejo. "The Philippines is very excited to be hosting you again."
