Filipino boxer Norlan Petecio progressed in the men's 70kg division of boxing in the 2026 Asian Games after a big victory over his Cambodian opponent on Monday.
Petecio took a unanimous decision over Sophors Vy at the Nishio Gymnasium to advance to the round-of-16 in his weight class.
All five judges scored the bout in favor of Petecio, who is the first member of the Philippine boxing team to plunge into action in the Asiad.
Set to compete on Tuesday is Olympic bronze medalist Aira Villegas, who faces India's Sakshi in the preliminary round of the women's 51kg weight class.
