Alex Eala and Shaira Rivera bowed out of the women's doubles competition in the 2026 Asian Games after a 5-7, 2-6 loss to China's Jiang Xinyu and Yang Zhaoxuan in the second round on Wednesday night at the Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Nagoya.
Shortly after taking care of business against Chinese-Taipei's Joanna Garland in the single's bracket, Eala returned to action with Rivera in hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals in doubles.

They showed great grit in the opening set, forcing a 5-all deadlock, but the Chinese pair controlled the last two games to take a one-set lead.
A comeback eluded the Philippine pair, with Jiang and Yang closing out the set on their serve.
With the loss, there are no more Philippine teams in contention in the women's doubles, after Stefi Aludo and Tenny Madis lost to a Chinese-Taipei pair earlier in the day.
Eala and Rivera had opened their partnership with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Hong Kong's Lai Ching Laam and Kallista Liu on Tuesday.
