MANILA — College of Saint Benilde is still in the semifinal hunt in the 2026 V-League Collegiate Challenge after a crucial win over San Beda, Saturday at the Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City.
The Lady Blazers put a stop to San Beda's two-match winning streak with a 25-14, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19 result.
The win improved CSB's record to 2-3, putting them in a tie with the Lady Red Spikers in fifth place.
Cam Bartolome, NCAA Season 101's top rookie, led Benilde with 23 points on 19 kills, three blocks, and a service ace.
Fionna Inocentes and Arianna Pua had four blocks apiece and finished with 15 and 12 points, respectively, while Mhonniecka Soliven was the other Lady Blazer in double digits with 11 points and collected 12 digs.
Janelle Bachar paced the Lady Red Spikers with 14 points; Aiezel Parumog, who came in as a second-set substitute, had 12 points while Daisy Cagas tallied 10 points, 17 receptions and six digs.
After recording a tournament-high 13 blocks in a five-set win over University of the East last Wednesday, Isay Culanay scored eight points. The rookie out of San Beda Taytay had two blocks.
The Lady Blazers are up for another must-win match against the Lady Altas on Sept. 19.
San Beda faces a tough test against unbeaten Arellano University on Sept. 20.
