Actress and comedian Ai-Ai delas Alas celebrated the first anniversary since she parted ways with her ex-husband, Gerald Sibayan. On her social media accounts, she shared that it was her “freedom day” and is marking it by giving gratitude to everyone that helped her process the emotions she felt back then.
Ai-Ai and Gerald separated back in 2024 when the latter messaged her about wanting to have kids and not being happy in their relationship anymore. The actress wasn’t in the US at the time when her partner decided to end their partnership.

In her Instagram post, she was seen walking and preparing herself to hear mass as she wanted to express her gratitude towards her faith. She shared that she has been stronger the past year and has been healing from the pain that she was left with a year ago.
“Happy Freedom Anniversary. One year wiser, one year stronger, one year freer. Here's to the woman who rose when she could've broken. Pain was my teacher .. Healing is my revolution.. To GOD all the glory and honor,” she wrote.
Ai-Ai then admitted how hurt she was when Gerald decided to part ways with her as she thought they would spend their entire lives together.
“Isang taon na ang lumipas mula nang iwan ako ng taong akala ko'y kasama ko habang buhay. Naligaw ako, naguluhan, at halos hindi ko na alam kung saan ako magsisimula,” she shared.

Despite what she went through, she was thankful that people showed their support and slowly regained herself.
“Pero sa gitna ng sakit, gulo, at katahimikan — nariyan kayo. Sa lahat ng dumamay, umunawa, tumahimik sa tabi ko, at nagdasal para sa akin — salamat. Hindi ko ito nalampasan nang mag-isa. At higit sa lahat, salamat sa Diyos na hindi ako iniwan kahit kailan. Buhay ako. Matatag ako,” she ended.
Fans of the comedian showed their support once more in the comment section of her posts. Other netizens shared how inspired they are by Ai-Ai’s story about resilience.
Prior to their separation, the two had been together since 2014 and tied the knot in 2017. They also had a nearly 30-year age gap which was met with mixed reactions from netizens.
