It was a special reunion for onscreen sisters Maya and Kute as Ice Seguerra appeared on Jodi Sta. Maria’s vlog Let’s Drink To That.

In the video, Jodi and Ice looked back on their time working together in the hit Kapamilya morning drama Be Careful With My Heart, while also touching on Ice’s personal health journey.

“Ako, honestly, it was my first time working with her. I really had high respect for you (Jodi) ever since,” Ice expressed. “Hindi kasi ako fan ng ma-showbiz na tao. Nakikita ko si Jodi na isa siyang magaling na artist.”

Reflecting on their work together, Ice expressed how much respect he developed for Jodi on and off camera.

“Noong nakasama ko siya sobrang mas lalong lumalim yung respeto ko sa kaniya hindi lang bilang artista lang kung hindi bilang tao kasi she really cares for people sa set,” he added.

In return, Jodi also complimented Ice for being a profound and thoughtful co-star.

“What I appreciate about Ice is I enjoy talking to him so many things. Basically, anything under the sun, napag-uusapan na namin. Ang lalim niya kasing tao and ang dami ko rin natutunan sa kaniya.” she expressed.

In the 2012 daytime series, Jodi played the iconic role of Maya dela Rosa, while Ice portrayed her supportive older sibling Cristina Rose dela Rosa also known as Kute (derived from "Kuya" and "Ate"). Their heartwarming sibling dynamic became one of the show’s most beloved storylines, resonating deeply with viewers during its two-year run.

Meanwhile, Ice also shared his health update, revealing he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes more than 10 years ago

“I was diagnosed with mga 10 years ago, Type 2. Although, may lahi kami sa family naman. Mga 10 years ago, I was in my 30s and wala akong paki kasi para sa akin kapag wala akong nafefeel anything na physical, go kebs,” Ice recalled.

Initially, he admitted, he brushed off the condition due to his “YOLO” (you only live once) mindset and love for sweets. He even remembered how his wife, Liza Diño, gave him a tough love to look after his health but he was still not persuaded.

“Nagkakaroon ako ng certain itchiness and it’s because of the high blood sugar. Doon ako nagstart magagamot but hindi ko pa rin tinitigil,” he added.

Ice said it took a painful wake-up call—the story of a colleague who suffered severe complications from diabetes—for him to take his health more seriously.

“Pero siguro ang pinaka nag-wake up call na mayroon akong nakita na colleague na may naglabas na parang naputulan siya ng paa and two days after I saw another artcard saying na she passed away,” he stated. “Pagkadating ko sa doctor, mag-insulin ka na. I think I have a good run na with sweet foods.”

Concerned for her former co-star, Jodi gently reminded him: “Kute, please be careful with your health.”

In 2018, Ice shared on social media that he needed to start watching his weight and sugar intake after seeing the results of his annual physical exam. Then in 2021, he revealed that he was saddened by the thought of giving up his favorite comfort treat—cookies and milk—after being diagnosed with diabetes.
