Singer-songwriter Jolianne is still taking in the unexpected response she has been receiving from audiences in China.

The Cebuana OPM artist recently performed on the main stage of the Tianmu Mountain Music Festival 2026 in Hangzhou, China where she brought her music to a crowd that stayed despite the heavy rain.

In an Instagram post, she described her recent breakthrough in the country as something she never planned.

“Guys penetrating China was purely by accident. 😭 I don't really know what I did or how it happened. It just did," she said.

Her connection with Chinese audiences began to take shape earlier this year, particularly after she performed in several cities during her tour to China last July.

At that time, she held shows in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, which eventually helped introduce Filipino music to listeners who were previously unfamiliar with her.

"I wasn't even on their social media platforms until I started touring there. I really thought only three people would show. But when I got there, the support was tangible. They were REAL people singing my songs back to me?!?! People even flew in to watch," she candidly said.

In an earlier post, Jolianne recalled how a street photographer's video of her during that trip gained traction and eventually became a viral video in Shanghai.

She also said that her English-language music made it onto the charts in China this year, adding another milestone to her growing international presence.

That momentum was evident when she returned to China for the Tianmu Mountain Music Festival in Hangzhou.

Photos and videos from the event showed festivalgoers staying in the rain to watch Jolianne perform on the main stage. One of the songs she performed was her hit song "Palayo sa Mundo" while proudly wearing a thrifted outfit.

Despite the downpour, the singer-songwriter continued with her set and delivered her performance to the crowd.

The moment served as another reminder of how far her music has reached, something Jolianne admitted she never expected when she began her career.

"It’s crazy, I’ve never even done a tour at home. I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand how it happened, but I’m so, so grateful that it did. Sometimes, you really just have to make the music and let it find the people it’s meant for," she maintained.
