Actor Dennis Trillo has shared a reassuring update about his son, Calix, saying that he is now safe and steadily recovering weeks after figuring in a terrifying car accident that left his vehicle destroyed. He has also shared a piece of advice to his son about safety and valuing life.
It was in late May when Dennis first revealed through a now-deleted Facebook post that Calix had been involved in a serious road accident at around 5 a.m. According to the actor, his son had fallen asleep while driving early in the morning, causing the vehicle to overturn in what he described as “a total wreck.”

At the time, Dennis clarified that despite the severe damage sustained by the car, no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident. He also assured the public then that Calix had only suffered minor injuries.
More than two weeks since the frightening accident, Dennis spoke to GMA News and gave an encouraging update on his son’s condition, sharing that the young athlete is now on the road to recovery.
“Sa awa ng Diyos wala namang masyadong masamang nangyari sa kaniya except sa kaunting bruises at fracture sa kamay. Buti na lang ‘yung fracture niya sa kamay, hindi ‘yon ang ginagamit niya pang-fencing. ‘Yung kabilang kamay ‘yung na-injure,” he said.
“Pero malapit na ring tanggalin ‘yung cast niya and okay naman,” he added.
While expressing relief over what happened, Dennis said the incident also became an important moment for him to remind his son about the value of life and the importance of prioritizing safety above all else.
“Sabi ko sa kaniya, napakaimportante magpasalamat ka sa bawat oras na binibigay sa’yo lalo na sa ganitong mga aksidente na alam mo ‘yon, wala masyadong napinsala, wala masyadong naabala. At ikaw, lalo na siyempre ‘yung buhay mo, napakaimportante,” he maintained.
The accident also left a lasting impact on Calix himself, who later reflected on how the experience changed his outlook and deepened his appreciation for life.
“Today I realized that life is one of the most precious things we will ever have, yet we sometimes forget its value until something unexpected happens,” he wrote in an Instagram story after the accident.

“In just a blink, everything can change...but us people and opportunities can also disappear without warning. That's why I learned we should never take anything for granted whether it's something big or small. Every second we are alive is a chance to love, grow, forgive, a chance to be better, appreciate the people around us, and praise God,” he maintained.
The young athlete continued by reflecting on life’s uncertainty and the importance of living with gratitude and intention, saying that he learned to value and appreciate all the small and big things in life.
Calix is Dennis’s son with former partner, beauty queen Carlene Aguilar.
