Actor Dennis Trillo has spoken up to defend his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, after online rumors surfaced questioning her relationship with his family.
On January 10, Dennis took to social media to share a message expressing both his support for his wife and his concern for his parents, who he emphasized are private individuals. In his post, Dennis described Jennylyn as someone deeply important in his life and stressed that she has always been a good person.
“Sa mga hindi po nakakakilala sa aking asawa, isa siya sa pinakamabuting tao sa buhay ko. Isang pribilehiyo na ako ang pinili niyang makasama habang buhay,” Dennis wrote.
He also asked the public to refrain from involving his parents in online issues, noting that they are elderly and not part of the entertainment industry.
“Ang mga magulang ko naman ay may edad na po. Hindi din sila showbiz at tahimik lang sila na namumuhay... wag naman sana sila bigyan ng isyu,” he said.
Dennis went on to clarify that there is no conflict within the family, explaining that their schedules often make it difficult to spend time together but that their relationship remains healthy.
“Mahal na mahal ko po silang lahat at maayos ang samahan namin kahit di man kami madalas nagkakasama dahil sadyang busy ang aming mga schedules.”
He ended his statement by encouraging a more positive mindset moving forward, saying, “2026 na po, magfocus nalang tayo sa pagiging mabuting tao. Madaming problema ang ating bansa na mas kailangan nating pagtuunan ng pansin.”
“Maiksi lang ang buhay, piliin natin maging masaya at mabuti araw araw,” he concluded.
Dennis’ statement came shortly after claims began circulating online following a showbiz discussion by Ogie Diaz on his YouTube channel.
According to Ogie, an anonymous individual sent a message to him, asking how true it was that Jennylyn was allegedly not on good terms with Dennis’ family, particularly his parents and siblings. Based on the message he read on air, the source alleged that Jennylyn had not been in contact with Dennis’ family for four years and supposedly did not attend family gatherings during Christmas and birthdays. The message also claimed that Dennis was allegedly discouraged from visiting his family and that Jennylyn has not been seen in any family photos posted online.
According to Ogie, Dennis’ mother cannot get angry with him because he is their only son.
It was also mentioned that Dennis has been dutifully helping them financially, adding that his father had recently been hospitalized and that he was unable to visit in person. Instead, he sent a video greeting with their daughter, Dylan Jayde.
Ogie also shared another claim from the message stating that in 2025, Dennis reportedly invited his family to lunch at their home but requested that his sisters not attend, allegedly because Jennylyn did not want to see them. The message added that Dennis’ family members, particularly his sisters, had only seen his daughter a few times.
While reading the message, Ogie stressed that confirmation could only come from those directly involved, including Jennylyn, Dennis, or his family. He also pointed out that despite the rumors, Dennis continued to support his parents and tried to balance his responsibilities.
As of writing, Jennylyn has yet to issue a statement addressing the claims.

Dennis and Jennylyn first became a couple in 2010 before parting ways a year later. They rekindled their relationship in 2016 and eventually tied the knot in a private civil wedding ceremony in 2021.
The couple has a blended family with three children: Jennylyn’s son Alex Jazz with ex-partner Patrick Garcia, Dennis’ son Calix with Carlene Aguilar, and their daughter together, Dylan Jayde.
