Carlos Yulo took to social media to celebrate another milestone in his career after winning his first-ever gold medal at the Asian Games for the men's floor exercise final on Thursday, September 24 in Nagoya, Japan.
"First GOLD for the Philippines here in Nagoya, and my first GOLD at any Asian Games 🥇," he posted on his Instagram page.
The gymnast also expressed his gratitude to God following the achievement while praying for his safety and that of his fellow athletes in their upcoming events.
"Ikaw po 'to lahat LORD GOD! Gabayan at protektahan mo po uli ako bukas at ang mga atletang Pilipino. Maging safe lang po kaming lahat ng mga makaka-laro ko at magkaroon po ulit kami ng magandang laban. Thank you LORD! 🙏🏻" he said.
Fans quickly filled the comments section with congratulatory messages, praising Carlos's performance and impressive landings.
"Wow! Insane! 🤯 His form in the air and how he sticks every landing... is just Gold! 💪🏽" one fan commented.
"Ang perfect ng landing!!! " another fan wrote.
The floor exercise is also one of the events that earned him one of his two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"Having this in my collection ... it's all complete now," he said following his win as reported by ABS-CBN News.
Carlos will have another opportunity to add to his medal haul when he competes in the vault final on Friday, September 25.
"We can just relax and hope for the best tomorrow. I will make sure I enjoy tomorrow's competition," he added. "I'm just overwhelmed right now. I can't process it yet."

The Asian Games victory comes just months after Carlos won gold in the floor exercise at the 13th Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Senior Asian Championships in Zunyi, China, last June.
"Golden in China 🥇. Proud to represent the Philippines and grateful for everyone who continues to support this journey. Thank you to my coaches, family, and everyone who believed in me through every high and low❤️. The work continues!" he posted on his Instagram page at that time.
