Actor and director Eric Quizon expressed how he honored Dolphy’s last wish for him and their family. In an interview with news outlet Bilyonaryo earlier this month, the celebrity son recalled how the late King of Comedy was their common denominator in ensuring that they remain united throughout the years.
Dolphy passed away back in 2012 due to multiple organ failure secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure.

The late veteran actor left properties and assets which Eric became in charge of after he passed away. Prior to his father’s death, Eric revealed that they were somehow prepared which was the reason they consulted with lawyers already.
“Somehow, the family was parang prepared–– we were prepared for what's going to happen. With that, of course we consulted lawyers and we talked about what he has and mostly it was land. That’s why in the beginning I said I think it’s best if we appropriate whoever you want to give the land to or this specific property to a specific child–– it’s up to you. And he did that,” Eric shared.
Eric added how Dolphy made him promise that they wouldn’t fight over what he would leave behind–– a promise that the celebrity son hasn’t broken. Despite this, he admitted that because of his promise, he had to sacrifice some of his plans for himself–– something he doesn’t regret doing.
“Ako naman, nag-promise ako sa daddy ko na I’ll fix it. So I told him sige dad, I promise that I will do this. It’s a hard task because minsan may mga gusto akong gawin na hindi ko nagagawa–– a lot of things,” he expressed.
“Of course I have like so many plans for myself but somehow there’s somebody pulling my shirt para hindi ako maka move forward. However, I never really considered that as a setback because I really think that what I’m doing is also moving forward. I’m not just doing it for myself but I’m doing it for the family,” he maintained.
Rather than asking Dolphy if he was still living today, Eric shared how he would express his gratitude towards his father for being his son.
“Lahat kami, pag nag aargue na kami, there are arguments, may mga questions. However, we always go to that common denominator which is my dad. So if ever, I won’t be asking him many questions, I’m gonna thank him,” he said.
“Dad, I'm very grateful for being your son,” he ended.
