Rovelyn Baterbonia, the mother of the late Ateneo player Rene Baterbonia, set the record straight as she clarified why there’s a door charge of ₱30 at the merchandise store they set up. In her Facebook account, the mother shared that while there is a ₱30 charge, it’s not for everyone.
The family of Rene opened the physical store back in August and has been operational since then. A video uploaded by a netizen went viral after they complained about the ₱30 entrance fee. Netizens have since then weighed in on the topic and have been divided on whether or not the Baterbonia family was justified in charging for entrance to their store.
Rovelyn broke her silence and explained the need for the entrance fee. She maintained that people are still free to enter the Baterbonia’s Collection store but not the museum which has the charge of ₱30.
“Lilinawin ko lang po ha Ang may entrance po na 30 pesos ay Ang moseum namin Hindi po yong store namin Kong papasok kayo sa mini museum sa aking anak na c Rene Baterbonia 2.0 may entrance po na 30 pesos para sa mga maintenance po namin,” she clarified.
The mother of the late athlete also shared that the people from Talacogon don’t need to pay the entrance fee for the museum as long as they can show proof of residency. She then gave more details on who will be paying the entrance fee to the museum.
“pro Ang lahat nang taga Talacogon na may sakop na 16 brgy ay libre po Basta taga Talacogon pro Kong taga Talacogon kayo tpos may Kasama kayong Ibang tao na Hindi taga Talacogon Normal may entrance po and sa store namin libre po walang bayad po Yan. God bless you always,” she ended.

While she may have already explained her side, there are still some netizens who continue to question the decision. Despite this, the majority of their followers have expressed their support and shared how excited they are to visit the store.
