Lindsay Lohan and Henry Golding are set to star in an upcoming romantic film for Netflix.
According to a press release published by Netflix's Tudum, the two stars will headline Return to You, which will be directed by Mark Waters.
Aside from taking on one of the lead roles, Lindsay will also serve as a producer on the project. The actress previously worked with Mark on the hit films Freaky Friday and Mean Girls.
The film will be "set in 2008 and follows a powerful but lonely attorney. By a twist of fate, she mistakenly receives a very emotional DVD from a dying woman addressed to her husband. Guided only by the clues on the disc, the lawyer sets out to find the woman's spouse."
Fans online were quick to react to the news.
"'Set in 2008' YES bring back 2000s romcoms!" one fan commented.
"This is great, I'm really excited. I love this," another fan wrote.
Back in July, Lindsay celebrated her 40th birthday and took the occasion to reflect on her life, career, and the lessons she has learned through the years.
"Forty. Grateful for every chapter that brought me here. For the lessons, the laughter, the love, the unexpected turns, and the people who’ve stood beside me through it all," she wrote on her Instagram page.
The actress added that she is entering the next chapter of her life with a renewed sense of purpose.
"This next decade feels different. More grounded. More intentional. More joyful. Here’s to family, friendship, new beginnings, and making the most beautiful memories yet. Thank you for all the birthday love," she stated.
