Star Cinema has released the official trailer for Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto’s upcoming film Always Yours, Never Mine.
In the movie, Joshua plays Apollo, while Julia portrays Luna.
“They say, you’ll never meet the same person twice... You reunite only to meet someone new,” Luna says in the trailer. “So how can you love the same person forever?”
The trailer offers a glimpse of how Apollo and Luna first meet at a New Year’s Eve party, as well as how Apollo eventually falls for her and continues to hold on to his feelings despite the passage of time.
At one point, Apollo insists to his friends that he has already moved on. “I’m over her. Matagal na akong tapos sa katangahan at kabaliwan ko sa kanya,” he says.
His actions in the trailer, however, suggest otherwise.
“Love starts with a choice,” a line in the trailer reads. “But how can you choose a love that keeps on changing?”
The trailer also features an emotional confrontation between Luna and Apollo, with the former seemingly trying to push him away.
“Sasaktan lang kita. I’m not gonna be good for you. Magmahal ka ng iba. Huwag ako,” Luna tells him.
“Bakit hindi ikaw?” Apollo asks.
“I don’t want to be with a boy whose only life goal is to be loved by me,” Luna replies.
Fans online were quick to react to the trailer.
"Grabe ang galing nila. 'Pag palabas na 'to manonood talaga ako," one fan commented.
"The scene is so moving 😢 Can't wait for these on the big screen 🥺," another fan wrote.
During a recent media conference, Julia shared that the film goes beyond a conventional romance.
“It's not just a love story. It's a life story,” she said as previously reported by ABS-CBN News.
The actress also offered her own interpretation of the title Always Yours, Never Mine, saying: “You have me always, I'm always yours. I'm dedicated, I'm committed to you. But how come I can't have this one thing that I'm so committed to?” she said.
Always Yours, Never Mine is set to be released on September 30 in cinemas.
