The stars and creators of Always Yours, Never Mine promised audiences a love story that goes beyond romance, as they officially introduced the upcoming Star Cinema film led by Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto.
Speaking during the film's media conference, Barretto described the project as more than a typical romance, saying it tackles commitment, timing, and the realities of life.
“It's not just a love story. It's a life story,” she said, echoing themes later discussed by screenwriter Vanessa Valdez.
Barretto said the title Always Yours, Never Mine can mean loving someone wholeheartedly despite not ending up together.
“You have me always, I'm always yours. I'm dedicated, I'm committed to you. But how come I can't have this one thing that I'm so committed to?” she said.
Garcia, meanwhile, credited the pair's long-standing friendship for their enduring on-screen chemistry.
“You can't manufacture chemistry. I just react to what she gives me in a scene,” he said.

Barretto added that mutual respect and gratitude have helped preserve their relationship through the years.
“Josh is more than a screen partner. Having shared so many milestones together, I'm just so grateful for everything we've shared,” she said.
Valdez said the film spans three decades of its characters' lives and examines not only the choices people make, but also the opportunities they let pass.
“It's actually a life story. It's about how we live our lives, the choices we make, and even the choices that we don't make,” she said.
The acclaimed writer said the movie ultimately asks viewers a deeper question: “Mahal mo ba ang buhay mo?”
Bianca Umali, who joins the project in her first Star Cinema film, called the role one of the biggest opportunities of her career.
“My breath stopped for a while when it was initially offered. There are a lot of firsts for me in this film,” she said, citing the chance to work with director Cathy Garcia-Sampana and the film's lead stars.

Former Miss Philippines Earth 2025 Joy Barcoma, who also makes her Star Cinema debut, reflected on her journey from working as an extra to landing a major movie role.
“I can say that I am living the dream now,” she said. “A lot of people would kill for this opportunity, and it was handed to me, so I'm super grateful for it.”
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, Always Yours, Never Mine follows Apollo and Luna across different stages of their lives, exploring love, friendship, missed chances, and the question of whether some people are meant to stay in each other's lives despite changing seasons.
The film opens in cinemas nationwide on September 30.
