Beauty queen-actress Michelle Dee has released a new single, describing the project as both deeply personal and empowering, following a challenging start to her year.
The former Miss Universe Philippines shared her excitement about returning to music after a temporary break.
She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with ABS-CBN through its music arm, Star Music, and GMA Network.
The track, which she hinted as a "birthday gift to everyone," marks a significant creative milestone for the actress, who also served as co-producer of both the song and its music video.
"It’s going to be my birthday gift to everyone," said Dee. "I am also a co-producer of the song, of the music video... I'm here ready, dancing, and very excited siyempre na iparinig sa mga kababayan natin 'yung bagong kanta."
Dee revealed that the single "Makatanong" was born out of personal struggles earlier this year, with its core message centered on setting boundaries and protecting one's energy.
"It was a very tough start of the year for me. And you know, the bottom line of this song is really, you know, everybody is entitled to their opinion, but not everyone is entitled to your energy," she emphasized.
"So, this song is really about setting that boundary, knowing what you will let affect yourself, knowing where to focus, knowing where to put your energy, and just letting time speak all of your truths," Dee added.

The singer also highlighted the growing impact of social media on mental health, noting how online negativity can affect individuals.
"I've always said all throughout my showbiz career that I only listen to opinions that matter, people that I know have best interest at heart for me," Dee said, expressing hope that listeners will feel empowered by the song's message.
Despite the pressure to follow up on the success of her previous hit "Reyna," Dee said she and her team poured their full effort into the new release.
She also shared her enthusiasm for performing again, promising fans a dynamic presentation that includes dancing and a fresh sound.
"Nakakakilig, sobra… As in kating-kati na akong maglabas ng song. And of course medyo ang taas ng pressure because 'Reyna' was such a success. Pero again, we’re just putting everything we have," she expressed.
