From simply seeing snippets of Tindeng’s (Charo Santos) life as a young adult, particularly before and after she gave birth to Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), in the past episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” avid viewers finally got to see the whole story in the June 3 episode of the well-loved action drama series.

Crossing paths again with the influential Guerrero clan, whose ruthless and perverted patriarch, Don Gustavo (Jhong Hilario/Dante Rivero), sexually harassed and abused her, while the wicked matriarch, Doña Pilar (Louise delos Reyes/Celia Rodriguez), mistreated her, has triggered Tindeng’s memory of that dark and traumatic phase in her life, as well as losing the only man she ever loved—Alfredo. And she unintentionally confided these to their landlord, Mang Al (Juan Rodrigo), who eventually revealed himself to be the exact Alfredo she was referring to in her story.

In that flashback-slash-revelation, the young adult Tindeng was depicted by promising actress Elisse Joson, while the young adult Alfredo was portrayed by Joseph Marco, who both shared their experiences working on “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” in this video uploaded by CCM Film Production on their Instagram account.

For his portrayal of the young Alfredo, which marked his comeback to acting since November 2023, Joseph revealed watching films on a popular global streaming platform in order to bring himself back to “taping mode.” The stint might be short, yet he didn’t hesitate to accept it since, aside from “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” being one of the biggest series in local TV at present, he also considers Coco Martin as one of his good friends in the industry.

“Alam naman natin kung gaano kaganda ‘yong ‘Batang Quiapo,’ kung gaano kalakas ‘to. And just the quality of the projects na prino-produce ni Coco Martin, I think, I’m very thankful and grateful to be part of this show,” Joseph conveyed.

When asked why the audiences must not miss the narration of Tindeng’s history, he said, “Dapat abangan ng mga viewers ‘to kasi dito magsisimula ‘yong istorya ni Tindeng. Dito nila makikita kung gaano kabigat at gaano ka-challenging ‘yong mga nangyari sa buhay niya. Kaya dapat huwag nilang palampasin ‘to.”

Elisse, on the other hand, expressed how actually excited she was upon being told that she would play the young Tindeng. Thus, in order to prepare herself, she watched the previous episodes of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” to meticulously review and learn the way her character stands, walks, gets mad, gets kilig, and gets along with Marites.

“Habang ginagawa ko ‘yong bawat eksena, na-excite ako kasi sobrang malaman, sobrang malalim ‘yong mga eksena. And na-excite din ako kasi kumbaga bagong atake din ‘yong ginagawa ko para sa batang Tindeng. Kaya excited ako na mapanood lahat ang aming pinaghirapan,” she enthused.

Aside from the interview of Elisse and Joseph, some behind-the-scene ganaps from their scenes were also shown in this video.
