Audiences are drawn to celebrity families that light up their screens, offering a unique kind of entertainment through their dynamics both on and off camera. Among the most familiar are sisters Janice de Belen and Gelli de Belen, whose careers in acting and hosting showcase a talent deeply rooted in their bloodline.
In the September 12 episode of “Stars on Stars,” Janice and Gelli opened up about their sibling bond and their journeys in the entertainment industry. Their one-on-one interview began with the “Siya ’yan, Ako ’yan” challenge, a playful segment where each sister had to decide who best fit a given prompt.
When asked who takes the most selfies and dares to post just one, both sisters owned up to it. Janice admitted that she scrolls through her gallery to find the best shot before sharing it online. “Ginagawa ko lang ’yon kasi minsan kailangan kong mag-post,” she explained.
“Ako din, ang dami-dami [kong] selfie. Different poses, angles, and all that.” Gelli echoed her sister’s sentiments, adding that people from their generation don’t really post selfies on social media, backing up Janice’s point in her own way.
The celebrity sisters also opened up about their habits outside of work, starting with online shopping. Janice did not shy away from admitting that she mostly shops online whenever she’s stressed. “Pero ‘yung online shopping ko, add to cart lang nang add to cart. Tapos pag-iisipan ko [kung iche-checkout],” she remarked, recalling how often she found herself doing it during the pandemic.
Gelli shared her own take, saying that she shops online even when she isn’t stressed. For her, the experience feels like therapy. “Add to cart, pero hindi muna magche-checkout.” She takes time to reflect on whether she really needs the item, eventually removing it from her list once the urge to buy fades.
On the topic of “2 days bago mag-reply sa message,” Janice raised her hand. Although she doesn’t do it with Gelli, she admitted that she often takes her time replying in their group chat with other celebrity friends. “Minsan din kasi [kapag sumagot na kayong lahat], hindi na mag-matter ‘yung sagot ko,” she explained.
Gelli, however, reiterated that it is still important for Janice to respond promptly. “Parang consideration na rin naman,” she said, while admitting that she, too, sometimes takes a while to reply simply because she hasn’t seen the message yet.
Janice once again raised her hand when asked who among them was a big admirer of K-drama oppas. She recalled the time she hugged Korean actor Song Joong Ki onstage during his 2025 fan meet at the Mall of Asia Arena. Janice was chosen from the crowd to receive a bouquet of flowers personally arranged by the actor.
Both Janice and Gelli disagreed when the subject of getting ready at the last minute came up. “Sanay kami sa preparation. Nung bata kami, tinuruan kami na dapat gabi pa lang pine-prepare mo na ‘yung mga gamit,” Janice said. Gelli added that she knows she would end up arriving late for her schedule if she tried to prepare at the last minute.
They also reflected on how they handle arguments and misunderstandings. When asked who apologizes first, both Gelli and Janice thought about their own dynamic. “Feeling ko hindi tayo nagso-sorry, nag-uusap na lang tayo,” Janice admitted, a sentiment Gelli agreed with.
Gelli added, “Meron din naman tayong disagreements, pero ang nangyayari, hindi na lang tayo mag-uusap tapos mag-uusap na lang tayo ulit,” emphasizing that their bond follows a rhythm only the two of them truly understand.
Janice pointed to Gelli when the conversation shifted to “Galante sa iba, kuripot sa sarili.” She said Gelli is the type to hold on to something even when it is already broken. “’Yung telepono niya, hiwa-hiwalay na ‘yung basag,” Janice remarked.
Lastly, when asked who among them is a hoarder and has a hard time throwing things away, Janice said she knows when to stop and declutter, while Gelli admitted that it takes her a while to get rid of her things.
