We got to know Brent Manalo a little better inside the “Pinoy Big Brother” house, where we saw that interesting mix of his nonchalant vibe and unfiltered honesty.
And when he recently became a regular host on “It’s Showtime,” we got to see another layer of him—his humorous side and his penchant for random hugot moments. From LOL to ouch! In this Kapamilya Update video, we're leaning into the latter.
In one ‘Laro Laro Pick’ episode where, during a casual 'kuwentuhan' with a player, Vice Ganda noticed that Brent got a little sentimental at the mention of 'exes.' Pressed, Brent shared that he has an ex he'd been with for three years.
Asked what his ex is up to now, he said she might be abroad and revealed that they haven't kept in touch since he unfollowed her on social media, “Kasi parang wala namang point na, kumbaga, tapos na, eh. Hindi ko na kailangan pang panghawakan 'yung mga gano'ng bagay.”
Of course, Brent dropped another 'hugot' when asked about the biggest lesson he's learned from a heartbreak. His advice was to give it your all while you're in the relationship because, as he put it, "You'll never know what you have until it's over."
The 'feels' were definitely feeling during the hosts' “shout out to my ex” attendance check. Viewers were all intrigued when Brent dedicated his message to the former “Big Winner” of his life. “Sa aking dating big winner, do you remember the time I tried to be better? Nagulat na lang ako nang biglang naging cold ang weather. Kaya heto ako ngayon, ngingiti na lang at alone sa next chapter.”
Brent mixed a little wit into his hugot when he tried answering a Miss Q&A question, “Ano ang mas bad trip—'yung tubuan ka ng kalyo o your jowa doesn't call you?” And 'talak' he did, saying, “Mas nakaka-bad trip 'yung hindi ka tawagan ng jowa mo kasi 'yung kalyo is a sign of kasipagan. 'Pag may kalyo ka, masipag ka. Alam mo kung sino ang hindi masipag? 'Yung jowa mo kasi tamad tawagan ka.” He ate that, so much so that Vice Ganda joked she’d add him to the Miss Q and A lineup.
Brent also takes the no-contact rule seriously. He isn't the type to reach out to an ex, and not even a tiny bit of social media stalking is allowed. “Minsan 'di ba kapag nakita mo kahit 'yung picture lang niya, maraming manunumbalik sa'yo,” Brent said, meaning step away from the profile and protect your peace.
And then we felt 'attacked' when he took on the Miss Q&A question, “May nagmamahal bang bumibitaw?” Brent believes the answer is yes. “Sa mga pagkakataon na siya mismo ang humiling sa'yo, ‘Pakawalan mo na ako.’ Kung totoong nagmamahal ka, ibibigay mo 'yung ikakasaya niya, kaya bitawan mo na siya.” Because sometimes, loving someone also means knowing when to let them go. Who hurt you, Brent?!
