Vice Ganda is back in her late-night element as she once again gives us laughter and random surprises on the newest season of "Gandang Gabi Vice," which has been trending online since its premiere last September 13.
And this time, Meme isn’t doing it alone. She's got her new squad, the Geng Gang, composed of comedians Divine Tetay and Verna Periwinkle and Kapuso actor Vince Maristela, to add more 'kulit' to the mix.
In an exclusive Q&A, ABS-CBN Studios threw the Geng Gang a series of questions that got them talking about their first encounters with Vice, their first impressions of her, and what it feels like to now be part of "GGV."
When was the first time you met Vice Ganda?
Vince traced his first meeting with Meme Vice back to the premiere night of “Call Me Mother,” Vice’s Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 entry, which also featured some of Vince’s friends from “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0." It was his first time seeing Meme IRL, and up close at that, which is why he was totally starstruck. He congratulated her after the screening, Meme acknowledged him, and so he went home feeling 'kilig.'
Verna, meanwhile, first saw Vice at the “It’s Showtime” studio way back in 2009, during the show’s very first month on air, when she joined the program's dance contest.
Tetay and Vice have much more history, having first crossed paths around 2003 when they were both starting out in comedy bars. Tetay admitted she felt “scared” because Vice seemed to be in a bad mood that day, which made her come across as a little intimidating at first.
What was your first impression of Vice Ganda?
Of course, the first thing Verna noticed about the Unkabogable Superstar was her incredible gift for comedy.
Vince, however, felt there was more depth behind the larger-than-life personality we see on television. "Sa screen, laging nakakatawa si Meme Vice, grabe magbigay ng good vibes. Pero meron din siyang impression sa akin na napakaseryosong tao. Parang naniniwala kasi ako sa kasabihan na 'yung mga taong magagaling magpatawa, sila rin 'yung mga tao na sobrang seryoso," he shared.
How does it feel to be part of GGV?
“Naalala ko no’ng tinawagan ako for this show, grabe talaga ’yung goosebumps ko, akala ko hindi totoo ’yung sinasabi ng handler ko na magiging part ako ng GGV,” Vince recalled. “Sobrang excited ako na may halong kaba, na may pressure. Ano bang alam ko sa pagpapatawa? Never ko naman naisip maging comedian, ganyan.”
Despite the nerves and pressure, Vince is just happy to be part of a show he grew up watching. “Hindi lang ako makapaniwala na nandito na ako ngayon sa GGV.”
Verna can totally relate, saying it still feels unreal to join Meme Vice on the program she used to look forward to every Sunday. Tetay feels just as lucky, giving herself a little pat on the back because she knows just how many celebrities would love to be part of “GGV,” too.
