MANILA— Philippine Airlines (PAL) plans to launch nonstop services from Manila to Delhi and Mumbai in December this year, the flag carrier announced on Friday.
PAL said the routes, which are still subject to approval from the Indian government, will establish direct air links between the Philippines and two of India's leading cultural and commercial centers.
"Opening services to Delhi and Mumbai strengthens PAL's network in one of Asia's most dynamic economies," said PAL President Richard Nuttall. "These routes will create new opportunities for Filipinos to explore India while supporting the growing movement of travelers, businesses and goods between our two countries."
PAL said it will deploy its 168-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft on both routes, featuring 12 lie-flat Business Class seats and 156 Economy Class seats.
The Manila–Delhi service (PR642) will operate every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, departing Manila at 10:40 p.m. and arriving in Delhi at 3 a.m. the following day. Return flights (PR643) will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Flights from Manila to Mumbai (PR646) will depart every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:40 p.m., arriving at 3:05 a.m. Return services (PR647) will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Beyond boosting passenger travel, the new direct routes will expand PAL's international cargo network, facilitating faster trade between the two nations. Filipino passport holders can also take advantage of India's e-Visa program to easily plan leisure, business, and cultural trips.
